UNC NPM has supported fellows doing scholarly activities in global health since 2010. Two of our faculty members (Drs. Bauserman and Patterson) specialize in global health research with a strong research partnership in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and collaborations in Bangladesh, Guatemala, India, Pakistan, Tanzania and Zambia. Collectively, Drs. Bauserman and Patterson conduct research ranging from epidemiology to discovery research to randomized controlled trials to implementation science.<\/h6>\n
UNC has partnered with the Kinshasa School of Public Health (KSPH) to conduct research in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for two decades. Together with KSPH, we are members of the NICHD Global Network for Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Health Research. Through this network of 7 sites in low- and middle-income countries, we research interventions to improve the lives of mothers and infants. The UNC-KSPH Partnership is currently leading a randomized placebo-controlled trial of Caffeine for Hypoxic IscheMic Encephalopathy (CHIME) in the Global Network. The partnership also has a strong portfolio of implementation science research in newborn resuscitation.<\/h6>\n
Fellows interested in global health also benefit from collaborations and educational resources in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, the top public school of public health in the country.
