Jennifer Fuchs<\/strong> is the program director of the PHM fellowship. She completed pediatric residency in 2014 and graduated from PHM fellowship in 2016 from Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s Hospital. On the national level, she has served as a graduated fellow mentor at the PHM fellowship conference, ran the national website for PHM (www.SOHMlibrary.org<\/a>) and has presented various national workshops on fellowship wellness, core faculty, interviewing applicants, and fellowship autonomy and mentorship. Dr. Fuchs’ primary interests include high value care, faculty development, resident education in the area of child maltreatment, and promoting quality improvement education in trainees. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors on the water or hiking, listening to her musician husband perform, cooking\/baking or trying unique local eats, traveling, and spending time with her daughter and two dogs. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Wade Harrison<\/strong> is a member in the Division of Hospital Pediatrics while also serving as faculty at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health where he teaches in the Public Health Leadership Program. He completed pediatric residency at the University of Utah where he also served as a chief resident before coming to UNC to complete a research fellowship affiliated with the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. He loved UNC and North Carolina so much that he stayed on as faculty! He currently works with fellows in a variety of ways, particularly focused on their scholarly activities, and anticipates stepping into the role of Associate Program Director in the future. His research and professional interests include measuring and supporting high-value care, clinical decision-making, and issues related to the pediatric workforce, and has experience conducting research through a range of methods from using administrative data, to systematic reviews, to survey data. He also enjoys teaching epidemiology and critical appraisal to trainees. In his free time, he enjoys drinking strong coffee, cycling (and really anything outdoors), and exploring all of Durham\u2019s restaurants and breweries with his wife Asha, 2-year-old son Atul (who mostly prefers carbs and dino nuggets), and 13-year-old lab mix Lucy (who also likes dino nuggets when offered by Atul). <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lindsay Chase<\/strong> completed a PHM Fellowship at Emory and has previously served as the medical director for inpatient services and program director for the PHM Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children\u2019s Hospital. Nationally, she serves as the medical editor for the American Board of Pediatrics Hospital Medicine Sub board and was a member of the AAP Section of Hospital Medicine Executive committee from 2016-2019 and the former webmaster and founder of the SOHM library. Her primary interests include diagnosis of undifferentiated patients, high value care and optimization of use of limited resources, thinking about thinking, and cuddling babies in the newborn nursery. In her free time, she enjoys dominating her two children at board games, cuddling with her two dogs, and enjoying takeout from all of the great Chapel Hill restaurants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Gonzalo\u00a0Loza\u00a0<\/strong>received his BSc in Health Services Management from East Carolina University, College of Allied Health Sciences and a minor in Early Childhood Development and Family Science. He is currently pursuing his Master of Health Administration at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. He serves on the board for The National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives\u2019 NC Chapter as Chair of Membership and member of The Association of Administrators in Academic Pediatrics. Gonzalo is responsible for the division\u2019s financial wellbeing, HR management, general communication, project coordination, and divisional administrative oversight. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, beach trips and exploring new restaurants with his fianc\u00e9. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Pediatric Hospital Medicine Team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) at the University of North Carolina Children\u2019s Hospital is a group of ~35 pediatricians, combined medicine-pediatrics trained physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurse coordinators with an interest in the care of hospitalized children. We strive to ensure the delivery of high quality, efficient, and safe care with 24-7 in-house coverage for pediatric inpatients, newborn nursery, surgical co-management, and consultations for many children on specialty or surgical services.<\/p>\n

The pediatric hospitalists are members of the core teaching staff for UNC medical students, residents, and fellows. In fact, the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), Pediatrician-in-Chief of the hospital, Director of Inpatient Services, Associate Pediatric Residency Program Directors, Med-Peds Residency Program Director, and Director of Student Education in Pediatrics are all faculty members of our division.<\/p>\n
