Working toward gender equity is not a spectator sport, and it cannot be achieved by the efforts of women alone. There is a critical need for allies in the shared goal of gender equity in medicine (and the world at large). While this core understanding is appreciated by so many, women and allies alike, it can be challenging to know how to have a meaningful impact as allies. This workshop, which will be led by women and men, will provide an educational framework to better appreciate the ways in which gender inequity is present in our field, and more importantly, detail concrete strategies allies can employ to combat that inequity, using small breakout rooms to help drive discussion around strategies in particular scenarios. We encourage all members of the Department of Pediatrics community to attend this workshop, especially male allies. It will give you the tools to better combat gender inequity in our field, and that benefits EVERYONE. Your presence shows your recognition of the problem and your voice is truly needed in order to have productive, fruitful discussions.
