Everyone in our MPS community knows that Dr. Muenzer is a leading expert on these ultra rare diseases so his input on our son&#039;s treatment plan meant a lot to us. We were especially appreciative of the team the center has put together. Not only did we have assistance leading up to our trip to help us navigate travel, but we were greeted by a welcoming team upon our arrival. I was particularly impressed by Leigh Anne, the clinical instructor that performed my son&#039;s developmental assessment. As a parent to a child with significant developmental delays, these tests are no stranger to me. But every other time, I leave feeling devastated by the constant negative results and reminders of what my son \\\\\\&quot;can&#039;t do.\\\\\\&quot; That was not the case with Leigh Anne. While she gathered the same data showing what my son can and can&#039;t do, she only ever vocalized what he can do. She was so positive and just spent the time playing with him and meeting him where he is rather than stressing him out by making it feel like a test. Initially I met Kim Stephens at a MPS event, was talking with her about ERT &amp; Finley\\u2019s conditions in general. She immediately said \\u201ccome see us at UNC!\\u201d - I was thrilled &amp; all in from that very moment. She started the process of contacting her people to reach out &amp; coordinate an appointment, along with our travel arrangements &amp; lodging! So amazing that they do all of that for families. Upon meeting Dr. Muenzer &amp; his team I quickly realized how invested they are in their patients, new &amp; old. They spent a lengthy amount of time with us, answering questions, giving us information &amp; simply just chatting with us about Finley &amp; our lives. It seemed like they had all the time in the world to be there with us. Which is an overwhelmingly comforting thing, because there are so many medical professionals who lack the personal bed side manner. Even when we left, they told us that if we ever need anything at all from them, they would always be there for us at any capacity. My heart was so full leaving there. Seeing how amazing they were, how much they wholeheartedly cared for my baby when they had just met her. The peace that fills your heart and soul in these situations as a medical parent is irreplaceable. I left there feeling light, happy, confident and ready to continue tackling Finley\\u2019s journey with MPS1. The gratitude I have for them is immeasurable.
