The workshop focused on real-world applications of genetics and highlighted the impact of metabolic disorders across clinical care, research, and patient support.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"626\">The Muenzer MPS Research &amp; Treatment Center was proud to be involved in this educational initiative.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"628\" data-end=\"1054\">\n<li data-start=\"628\" data-end=\"784\"><strong data-start=\"630\" data-end=\"650\">Dr. Kim Stephens<\/strong> delivered the keynote address, sharing insights on patient advocacy and the importance of amplifying patient voices in rare disease<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"908\"><strong data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"806\">Lindsay Torrice<\/strong> led the Research session, providing an overview of careers and opportunities in scientific research<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"909\" data-end=\"1054\"><strong data-start=\"911\" data-end=\"930\">Kristin Clinard<\/strong> participated in the Family Support session, highlighting the critical role of patient and family support in care delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1056\" data-end=\"1268\">The event provided students with the opportunity to engage directly with professionals across multiple disciplines, offering a deeper understanding of how genetics and genomics are applied in real-world settings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1462\">Connecting students to both the science and the people behind this work remains an important part of advancing awareness, education, and future careers in rare disease and metabolic disorders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent event at North Carolina Central University brought students together for the Genetics-in-a-Day Careers Workshop, hosted by the UNC Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care.
