He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2011 at Vanderbilt University, a Master\u2019s in medical sciences at University of South Florida in 2012, and earned is medical degree in 2018 at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Atkins completed his pediatric residency at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2022, remaining for a year as Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Duke University Children\u2019s Hospital in June 2025. Dr. Cotton has been a Pediatric Cardiologist at UNC Children&#8217;s since 1996, practicing in multiple sites across the state.\u00a0 He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago, medical school at State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, and both his residency and fellowship at the University of California &#8211; UCLA Children&#8217;s Hospital.
