Applicants must have completed three years of ACGME-accredited residency training in pediatrics prior to starting fellowship. Applicant interviews will be held in September and October. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pediatrics\/education\/fellowships\/gastroenterology\/\">Visit our Fellowship page for more information.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Pediatric Residents<\/h2>\n<p>During the academic year more than 60 residents will spend time on the inpatient GI service or in the outpatient clinics.\u00a0 Medical Students will also rotate through the GI service and in outpatient clinics.\u00a0 The inpatient team is led by one of the Pediatric Gastroenterology fellows, supervised by the attending.<\/p>\n<h5>Learning activities include:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinic performance and in-hospital consultations<\/li>\n<li>Daily rounds on in-patients<\/li>\n<li>Attendance during endoscopic procedures<\/li>\n<li>Residents are expected to read selected articles and literature provided, based on their patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>More information about our educational programs and expectations for learners can be found by visiting:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pediatrics\/education\/pedsres\/current-residents\/gastroenterology\/\">Residents rotating with Pediatric GI<\/a> <em>requires ONYEN<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pediatrics\/education\/clerkship\/individualization-phase\/gi-peds-445-covid\/\">4th year medical students rotating with Pediatric GI<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship The pediatric GI fellowship is a three-year program accredited by the ACGME.
