The UNC Division of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology was well represented at the North Carolina Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society (NCAAIS)<\/a> Annual Meeting<\/strong>, held May 16\u201317, 2026 in Durham, NC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

First-year fellow Hunter Smith, MD, MPH<\/strong><\/a> presented his research, \u201cPatient Perceptions Regarding Omalizumab for Food Allergy Treatment.\u201d<\/em> His work highlights patient perspectives on omalizumab, a newly approved biologic therapy that is transforming the management of IgE-mediated food allergy.<\/div>\n

UNC faculty also played key roles in the scientific program. David Peden, MD, MS<\/strong><\/a> delivered a presentation on the impact of climate change on allergic disease<\/strong>, and Edwin H. Kim, MD, MS<\/strong><\/a> presented on food allergies<\/strong>, including emerging therapies and clinical advances.<\/p>\n
