The Jobin lab has published a paper in the October 2012 issue of Science titled” Intestinal inflammation targets cancer-inducing activity of the microbiota” in which they identify the intestinal microbiota as a target of inflammation that affects the progression of colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CRC). First author on the paper is Janelle Arthur, a postdoctoral fellow in the Jobin lab.

Dr. Zefeng Wang, Assistant Professor in Pharmacology, has received a Jefferson Pilot Fellowship in Academic Medicine. Dr. Wang will receive $20,000 to be paid over a four-year period in equal installments of $5,000 per year. Nicole Vincent Jordan, a member of the Johnson lab, successfully defended her thesis September 6, 2012. The title of her thesis is “Epigenetic Regulation of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Epithelial Stem Cells and Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
