Dr. Bryan Roth was interviewed by Channel 14 News on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 about State Sen. Bill Purcell’s proposed bill to declare the hallucinogenic herb Salvia a Schedule I drug, the same as cocaine and heroin. The interview highlighted Dr. Roth’s research on Salvia derivatives and possible health benefits for disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, depression, schizophrenia and cocaine abuse, as well as difficulties researchers would have trying to make non-schedule derivatives, however beneficial, should the drug be classified Schedule I.
