These videos were presented as a 3-part mini-documentary series at the 2021 Inaugural Curtis Harper Distinguished Lecture Series on April 6, 2021 in celebration of his memory and in honor of his many achievements and accolades.

Dr. Curtis Harper was the 1st African American faculty member to receive tenure in the Department of Pharmacology in 1981.  In addition, Dr. Harper also taught and conducted research in toxicology as a member in the Curriculum in Toxicology at UNC.

In this first part of the mini-documentary series, we learn about Dr. Curtis Harper’s contributions as a scientist and as our first African American faculty member to receive tenure.

Not only was Dr. Harper a man of Science, but also of immense faith and selfless service. In part 2 of this 3-part mini-documentary series, we learn about Dr. Harper’s faith community through his family and friends at the Church of Reconciliation, Chapel Hill.

A brother, a son, a mentor, a friend. Friends, family and colleagues reminisce the wonderful person that was Dr. Curtis Harper in the finale of this 3-part mini documentary series.
