Kathy Justice, Student Services Manager for the Department of Pharmacology retires at the end of May 2015. Kathy worked with the Department of Pharmacology for 13 years and for 38 years with the University. Kathy worked closely with Dr. Rob Nicholas, Vice Chair, and Dr. Lee Graves, Director of Graduate of Studies for the department.

Fresh out of Alamance Community College with an Associate’s degree in Medical Terminology, Kathy started working at UNC on March 1, 1977 in Surgery Rehabilitation (old Gravely Bldg. which was adjacent to the main hospital) as an Assistant to Clinical Specialist, Sherry McKoy.

She then transferred to Chemistry in April, 1978, working as Secretary for Drs. Robert Parr, Max Berkowitz, Royce Murray, and Gary Glish, until she was promoted to the Graduate Studies Office as Graduate Studies Coordinator. She transferred to Pharmacology in September, 2002 replacing Ann McCutchan, who retired from the Graduate Studies Office in 2002.

In 2007 Kathy received the Staff Excellence Award for her outstanding service to the Pharmacology department.

Kathy was very well liked by students, faculty and staff. She will be greatly missed. Kathy will be officially retired June 1. Her plans for the future? To spend more time with her grandchildren. We wish her all the best.
