Congratulations to Mariah Stewart, graduate student in the Schisler lab, for receiving a prestigious NSF GRFP Fellowship award!

Mariah StewartMariah will be investigating the heat stress response mechanism in zebrafish. Specifically, she will study how post-translational modifications of chaperones and co-chaperones dictate protein-protein interactions and heat tolerance in response to thermal stress. This heat stress mechanism is important in not only aquatic organisms growth and survival in response to increasing water temperatures but also in multiple disease progressions like cancer growth, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease.
