{"id":8548,"date":"2019-01-17T14:20:38","date_gmt":"2019-01-17T19:20:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pharm\/?post_type=directory&#038;p=8548"},"modified":"2025-06-17T17:30:42","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T21:30:42","slug":"leslie-morrow-phd","status":"publish","type":"directory","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pharm\/directory\/leslie-morrow-phd\/","title":{"rendered":"Leslie Morrow, PhD"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Research Interests<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Molecular Neuropharmacology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Research Synopsis<\/h2>\n<p align=\"justify\">Our laboratory is engaged in studies of the molecular mechanisms of alcohol action, alcohol tolerance and dependence that involve the function, expression, regulation and molecular biology of GABA receptors in the CNS.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">We are studying the regulation of GABA-A receptors to determine the precise mechanisms that account for CNS hyperexcitability during ethanol withdrawal. Our studies focus on gene expression, receptor trafficking, phosphorylation and receptor function.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Endogenous neuroactive GABAergic steroids contribute to many behavioral and electrophysiological effects of ethanol in rodents.
