Dr. Harris

Dr. Harris received his Bachelor of Arts, with double honors, in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2004. While working on his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University, he also completed a predoctoral internship at Central Regional Hospital and at the University of North Carolina, finishing in 2012. He continued with a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at UNC-Chapel Hill, Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, completing it in 2014.

Dr. Harris is Assistant Professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He practices at the Center for Rehabilitation Care in Chapel Hill and at UNC Hospitals as a certified neuropsychologist, helping patients mainly through neuropsychological evaluations, which include measuring cognitive abilities and assessing functioning status, along with some psychological evaluation and treatment. He sees a variety of patients but has particular experience in epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and dementing illness.

Dr. Harris’ practice philosophy is built around patient-centered care for patients with difficulty in thinking, concentration, or memory, or other symptoms of brain-related illness/injury. He strives to create a supportive and collaborative environment for patients, in order to obtain the most valid data possible to help make accurate diagnostic impressions along with treatment recommendations. He emphasizes impact of cognition on areas of functioning in life and working on ways to maximize cognitive efficiency for quality of life.
