All About Dr. Sugantharaj!

Raveen is originally from Staten Island, New York City and attended McGill University in Montreal, CA where he completed a BSc in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Kinesiology, was a collegiate sprinter, and loved the diversity, cuisine, music concerts, comedy shows, and festivals of Montreal. After graduation, he returned to New York City where he worked with young adults with developmental disabilities regarding socio-vocational and physical activity training and coached youth soccer. He matriculated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis, IN where he was actively involved with the AMA and AOA, served as the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) President, and developed a passion for healthcare policy where he was involved with publishing several policies (ranging from gun control to DEI initiatives to medical education) that were ultimately adopted by the AMA and ISMA. His interest in healthcare policy has continued as he is an AOA Training In Policy Studies (TIPS) fellow for 2021-2022. He is quick to admit PM&R is the best medical specialty, has interests in spine, sports medicine, neuromuscular, and pain medicine, believes in practicing medicine with an integrative, holistic mindset, and hopes to integrate global medicine into his training. He enjoys playing volleyball, soccer, and basketball with friends and leagues, is very much a foodie (always down to try a new food place or new brewery), loves traveling internationally (15 countries and counting) and all the adventures that come with it, reading (less medical texts) in our abundant free time, and living his best life with his family and friends. As a lifetime New Yorker he is a mandatory: Yankees, Giants, Knicks (forever hopeful), and Rangers/Canadians fan; pizza and bagel snob; and- NYC is the greatest city in the world. Can admit, NC living has been great, from the better weather to the young professional social vibes of the Triangle to the nearby mountains, beaches, and trails- this is a special place one can really settle into.
