We are thrilled to announce Gustavo Alonso Panduro Vargas as our 2022 Mauricio Castillo Diversity & Inclusion Scholar! This 8-week program engages students in research, educational enrichment, clinical experiences, and one-on-one mentoring with faculty leaders. Scholars also receive a $5,000 stipend for participating in the program. Gustavo is a first-generation Mexican immigrant and a first-generation college graduate. Having the opportunity to grow up playing sports, loving anatomy, and majoring in Exercise and Sports Science in college, Gustavo finds anything regarding the musculoskeletal system fascinating to learn. He will be mentored by faculty member, Dr Raj Telhan. Welcome, Gustavo!
The Castillo Scholars program was designed to address the racial and gender disparities present in many medical specialties, and seeks to provide educational, research, and mentorship opportunities for current minority medical students. Learn more here.
