The UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health Advisory Board was created to support the mission of the Center by advising and assisting in the development of the overall strategy for the Center. The Board will serve as an advocate for Center programs to increase their visibility internally and externally and to assist in the Center’s fundraising efforts. Founded in 2014, the Board is voluntary.
David Pope, Chair, Center Advisory Board, is a senior manager at SAS and leads a team of data scientists and technical architects who enable customers to gain value from implementing analytics in the US Energy industries. He has more than 28 years of business experience at SAS including research and development, IT, sales and marketing in the Americas and Europe. He holds 13 patents for SAS and wrote a book: Big Data Analytics with SAS. He earned a bachelor’s degree in industry engineering and a computer programming certificate from North Carolina State University.
Matthew Gilmore, Board Vice Chair, is a data science manager at Red Hat leading the Global Finance Analytics COE. Responsible for the data science team supporting the sales and finance organizations, he leads a talented group focused on using data to improve sales strategy and execution. Since joining Red Hat, he has helped the company integrate advanced analytics into many business areas including forecasting, customer segmentation, and world-wide planning. He holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science and a masters in analytics from North Carolina State University.
Lee Bowman serves as director of project and corporate development for Envirolink, a full-service utility company that focuses on improving the sustainability of our footprint through water resource infrastructure management in the Southeast. Prior to his role at Envirolink, Lee served as senior manager for the Triangle Division of Newland Real Estate Group, and was director of operations at Pinehurst Resort, where he managed national golf championships, including the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Men’s Open Championships. A UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Bowman lives in Chapel Hill with his wife and two daughters.
Brianne Brown, Psy.D
Brianne Brown, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist and senior medical science liaison, serving North and South Carolina, and Virginia, for neuroscience medical affairs at Janssen Scientific Affairs. She has worked in pharmaceutical research more than 10 years which, included positions as an expert trainer, rater, and study responsible scientist; and previously worked clinically within the community focused on crisis intervention. Prior to joining Janssen in 2014, she held positions at MedAvante and Princeton House Behavioral Health. Brown’s scientific interests include mental health conditions and evidence based treatments, clinical research to advance the field psychiatry, and innovations in the psychiatric healthcare landscape. An undergraduate University of Virginia, she received doctorate and master’s degrees in clinical psychology from Florida Institute of Technology.
Tracey Himmel is a business development consultant for WCHL's chapelboro and has more than 20 years of business development experience, Previously, she was business development manager for the Chapel Hill /Carrboro Chamber of Commerce and, previously, served as assistant regional manager at ReliaStar Life Insurance (now Voya.) She has held various community leadership roles and currently volunteers with the Chapel Hill Service League and Bootstrap, an organization that supports literacy in the Triangle. Himmel, a graduate of Boston College, and lives with her family in Chapel Hill.
Cornell Lamb lll, BS
Cornell Lamb lll, BS, captain in the Carrboro Police Department, is currently the administrative division commander. He has been in law enforcement for 20 years, with 17 of those years at the Carrboro Police Department. A graduate of North Carolina Central University, he also has diplomas from the FBI Academy and the North Carolina Justice Academy Management Development Program. Lambserved in United States Army and was member of the 82nd Airborne. He is also a volunteer assistant football coach at Chapel Hill High School.
Karen Lamont, vice president, Kalos Golf, Chapel Hill N.C., a golf tour operator offering golf cruises and private jet tours around the world. A community leader, she was extensively involved with the launch of the Trinity School, served as co-chair of the Young Life Durham/Chapel Hill Committee and is a former member of the Learning Ally Board. She was also involved with starting All Saints Church in Durham /Chapel Hill and currently serves on the UNC Medicine Campaign Steering Committee. Lamont and her husband Jim moved to North Carolina in 1983; they have three children, one of whom has special needs and resides at home. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from McDaniel College.
Curtis Massey, JD
Curtis Massey, is a senior assistant county attorney with the Durham County Attorney’s Office. He previously served as legal advisor for the Durham County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, he worked in the correction section of the N.C. Attorney General’s Office and served on active duty in the U.S. Navy, Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He received his law degree from the College of William and Mary, and his bachelor of arts degree with a certificate in Latin American studies from the University of Florida. In the community, he served on the boards of Alliance Healthcare, (2014-2019) and the Fourteenth Judicial District Bar/Durham County Bar Foundation for eight years and was president from 2009-2010.
Manmohan Sihra, MS
Manmohan Sihra, MS, is a senior executive from the pharmaceutical industry with more than 35 years of experience and is currently president of M SIHRA CONSULTING INC. He holds both undergraduate and masters degrees in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi India. He has served as a volunteer leader and a commissioner for training with the Boy Scouts of America. Having a great interest in teaching and the arts, Sihra has taught undergraduate and postgraduate levels in engineering and management, and been actively involved in photography, painting, sculpture and poetry activities. He lives in Cary.
