Center Advisory Board

The UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health Advisory Board was created to support the mission of the Center by advising and assisting in the development of the overall strategy for the Center. The Board will serve as an advocate for Center programs to increase their visibility internally and externally and to assist in the Center's fundraising efforts. 

Aaron Nelson, Chair

Aaron Nelson (Advisory Board)

Aaron Nelson has been president and CEO of the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce for 20 years, executive director of the Chamber’s charitable economic and community development affiliate since its creation in 2004, and is co-chair of the national Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy, and co-founder of the national Institute for Sustainable Development.  A UNC graduate, he was student body president, and his first job was special assistant to the late Chancellor Michael Hooker.


Lee Bowman

Lee Bowman is the project manager for Briar Chapel, a master-planned development in Chapel Hill (Chatham County).  In 2005, he began working for the project’s developer, Newland Communities, and also oversaw the completion of another local master-planned development, Churton Grove in Hillsborough.  Previously, Lee was director of operations at Pinehurst Resort and managed several national golf championships including the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Men’s Open ChampionshipsA UNC-CH graduate, Lee lives in Chapel Hill with his wife and two daughters.




Tracey  Himmel

Tracey Himmel  is a business development consultant for WCHL's chapelboro and  has more than 20 years of business development experience,  Previously, she was business development manager for the Chapel Hill /Carrboro Chamber of Commerce and, previously, served as assistant regional manager at ReliaStar Life Insurance (now Voya.) She has held various community leadership roles and currently volunteers with the Chapel Hill Service League and Bootstrap, an organization that supports literacy in the Triangle. Himmel, a graduate of Boston College, and lives with her family in Chapel Hill.

Cornel Lamb (Advisory Board)

Cornell Lamb lll, BS, captain in the Carrboro Police Department, is currently the administrative division commander. He has been in law enforcement for 20 years, with 17 of those years at the Carrboro Police Department. A graduate of North Carolina Central University, he also has diplomas from the FBI Academy and the North Carolina Justice Academy Management Development Program. Lamb served in United States Army and was member of the 82nd Airborne.  He is also a volunteer assistant football coach at Chapel Hill High School.


Karen Lamont   (final with edits)

Karen Lamont, vice president,  Kalos  Golf, Chapel Hill N.C.,Karen Lamont, is vice president of Kalos Golf in Chapel Hill, a golf tour operator offering golf cruises and private jet tours around the world. A community leader, she was extensively involved with the launch of the Trinity School, served as co-chair of the Young Life Durham/Chapel Hill Committee and is a former member of the Learning Ally Board. She was also involved with starting  All Saints Church in  Durham /Chapel Hill. She serves on the UNC Medicine Campaign Steering Committee. Karen and her husband Jim moved to North Carolina in 1983; they have three children, one of whom has special needs and resides at home. Karen received a BA in psychology from McDaniel College.

MANMOHAN SIHRA  Advisory BoardManmohan Sihra, MS, is a senior executive from the pharmaceutical industry with 35 years of experience and is currently president of M SIHRA CONSULTING INC. He holds both undergraduate and masters degrees in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi India. He has served as a volunteer leader and a commissioner for training with the Boy Scouts of America. Having a great interest in teaching and the arts, Sihra has taught undergraduate and postgraduate levels in engineering and management, and been actively involved in photography, painting, sculpture and poetry activities. Mr. Sihra lives in Cary.

Brian StablerBrian Stabler, PhD, is an emeritus professor of psychiatry and pediatrics at UNC and a documentary filmmaker. After graduating from Durham University (England), he came to the United States in 1967 as International Rotary Graduate fellow for one year and stayed. He has been recognized as an outstanding teacher, clinician and clinical investigator in clinical psychology. He has been active in the community on the boards of the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club, NC State Employees Credit Union, the Ronald MacDonald House and was a founding member and fundraiser for the SECU Family House. He lives in Southern Village with his wife Laura

Lori Taylor Advisory BoardLori Taylor CFP®, is senior vice president and Wealth Management Advisor, Fifth Third Bank Private Bank, works with individuals and families to achieve their financial goals.  Lori has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, including commercial banking, retail, wealth management and family office roles.  She graduated from the University of Oklahoma, and lives with her husband and son in Cary.



Candace Turney, CPA, with 34 years of experience in public accounting, is the managing partner of the Cary office of Rabon & Dailey, LLP. Her areas of focus are individual and small business taxation, and small business accounting, consulting, and start-ups. She has served on the Durham Literacy Council and Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association boards. Turney has lived in the Triangle for 28 years and currently lives in Cary. A graduate of Kalamazoo College in Michigan, she studied accounting and business at Butler University and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.


Michael Williams  Advisory Board

Michael Williams, is  a senior sales executive with a long record of consistently exceeding sales goals in the pharmaceutical industry. His 30-year career with GlaxoSmithKline, culminated in a position as area vice president for medical groups. He then moved to Sanofi Pharmaceuticals as the vice president of sales for hospitals and long-term care accounts. He is the president and managing partner at Facio Consulting Group and Associates, which focuses on business and sales consulting for small, midsize and large biopharmaceutical clients. He is a graduate of Xavier and received a Transformational Leadership certification from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
