II. What Are Mood Disorders?

Mood disorders refer to illnesses that disrupt mood. Generally, they refer to depressed mood, or to the other extreme, mania-which is a highly elevated (euphoric) or irritable mood. Mood disorders are very common and affect people in all walks of life.
