Dr. Mackenzie Funk is a clinical assistant professor within the department of psychiatry at UNC. Her primary area of clinical interest is in the treatment, support, and wellness of individuals living with serious and persistent mental illnesses, such as psychotic disorders and bipolar disorder.
Additionally, Dr. Funk is committed to increasing access to mental health care across the state of North Carolina. As such, she is involved in the UNC Acute Telepsychiatry Services which provides virtual psychiatry consults across various UNC Healthcare systems. As faculty, she is also involved in the education of medical students and psychiatry residents.
Prior to joining the Center for Excellence, Dr. Funk completed her medical degree at the University of Illinois and her general psychiatry residency training at UNC. She also served as a chief resident during her training. She is board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American Medical Woman’s Association, American Psychiatric Association, and the American Association for Community Psychiatry.
