David Pope, Chair, Center Advisory Board<\/strong><\/h4>\n
A former senior manager at SAS leading a team of data scientists and technical architects who enable customers to gain value from implementing analytics in the US Energy industries. He has more than 28 years of business experience at SAS including research and development, IT, sales and marketing in the Americas and Europe. He holds 13 patents for SAS and wrote a book: Big Data Analytics with SAS<\/i>. He earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in industry engineering and a computer programming certificate from North Carolina State University.<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Matthew Gilmore, Board Vice Chair<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A data science manager at Red Hat leading the Global Finance Analytics COE. Responsible for the data science team supporting the sales and finance organizations, he leads a talented group focused on using data to improve sales strategy and execution. Since joining Red Hat, he has helped the company integrate advanced analytics into many business areas including forecasting, customer segmentation, and world-wide planning. He holds bachelor\u2019s degrees in economics and political science and a masters in analytics from North Carolina State University.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lee Bowman, Board Member<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Director of project and corporate development for Envirolink, a full-service utility company that focuses on improving the sustainability of our footprint through water resource infrastructure management in the Southeast. Prior to his role at Envirolink, Lee served as senior manager for the Triangle Division of Newland Real Estate Group, and was director of operations at Pinehurst Resort, where he managed national golf championships, including the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Men\u2019s Open Championships. A UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Bowman lives in Chapel Hill with his two daughters.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Tim Fairchild, Board Member<\/strong><\/h4>\n

An independent consultant leveraging his experience working at the intersection of data, analytics, and energy to provide insights in the rapidly evolving new energy economy and the clean energy transition. Tim spent 21 years at analytics leader SAS in a variety of roles including Director of the Global Energy Practice and Director of Global Manufacturing Industry Marketing. Prior to joining SAS in 2002, Tim spent over 20 years in global supply chain roles at IBM, Compaq, Hughes Simulation Systems, and Texas Instruments. Tim serves on External Advisory Boards for UNC Charlotte\u2019s Energy Production & Infrastructure Center and the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department. Tim was named as one of the Top 25 Thought Leaders in Utility Analytics by the Utility Analytics Institute in 2024 and was awarded the 2024 Cleantech Champion of the Year by the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster. Tim is a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee\u2019s Haslam College of Business.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Karen Lamont, Board Member<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Vice president, Kalos Golf, Chapel Hill N.C., a golf tour operator offering golf cruises and private jet tours around the world. A community leader, she was extensively involved with the launch of the Trinity School, served as co-chair of the Young Life Durham\/Chapel Hill Committee and is a former member of the Learning Ally Board. She was also involved with starting All Saints Church in Durham \/Chapel Hill and currently serves on the UNC Medicine Campaign Steering Committee. Lamont and her husband Jim moved to North Carolina in 1983; they have three children, one of whom has special needs and resides at home. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from McDaniel College.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Manmohan Sihra, MS, Board Member<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A senior executive from the pharmaceutical industry with more than 35 years of experience and is currently president of M SIHRA CONSULTING INC. He holds both undergraduate and masters degrees in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi India. He has served as a volunteer leader and a commissioner for training with the Boy Scouts of America. Having a great interest in teaching and the arts, Sihra has taught undergraduate and postgraduate levels in engineering and management, and been actively involved in photography, painting, sculpture and poetry activities. He lives in Cary.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Josh Morgan, PsyD, At Large Board Member<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A psychologist with over fifteen years of experience, seeing the power of data, research, evaluation, and analytics as a useful tool to inform and advocate for system change, making an even bigger difference in people’s lives. His passion is in raising awareness of the need for more whole person care. Holistic approaches, including behavioral health, makes services more person-centered and strengths-based, as well as improving outcomes and cost effectiveness. He has worked in government, a hospital system, private technology, and education. Resides in California.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

John Gilmore, MD, Director of the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Thad and Alice Eure Distinguished Professor and vice chair for Research and Scientific Affairs in the Department of Psychiatry at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Dr. Gilmore started the Schizophrenia Treatment and Evaluation Program (STEP) in 1992. He also is a founder and the director of the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health and is active in the care of patients with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Dr. Gilmore\u2019s research focuses on brain development and risk for schizophrenia, using magnetic resonance imaging to study early brain development in normal and high-risk children, as well as in twins.He is a past president of the North Carolina Psychiatric Association.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Thava Mahadevan, MS, LCAS, Director of Operations for the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The founder and former executive director of XDS, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive care and services to individuals with persistent mental illness and co-occurring additive and intellectual disabilities, which merged with the Center in 2011. With more than 20 years of experience working in mental health organizations that serve individuals with severe mental illness, Mahadevan has extensive knowledge in designing and implementing innovative treatment programs. He has held program management positions at John Umstead Hospital and Orange, Person, Chatham Mental Health Center.
