Providing Care for the Whole Person.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

At the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health, we work with individuals with serious mental illness and their families to provide evidence-based treatment and support meaningful and productive lives. <\/span><\/span>We focus on early identification and prevention, sustained recovery, and proven clinical and recovery treatment. Care is provided by multidisciplinary teams, including UNC psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, rehabilitation counselors, nurses and other mental health professionals. We emphasize the integration of psychiatric and medical care.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Clinical Services<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Encompass<\/strong><\/a>
\nCare and treatment to adolescents and young adults from 15-30 years of age with recent onset psychosis, or individuals at risk for psychosis.<\/p>\n

STEP Mental Health Clinics<\/strong><\/a>
\nHelping individuals and families, dealing with schizophrenia while making strides toward health and recovery.<\/p>\n

Integrated Primary and Behavioral Health Care<\/strong><\/a>
\nDeveloping models of integrated care for people with mental illness, which will improve health outcomes and quality of life, while reducing overall costs.<\/p>\n

Individual and Group Therapy<\/strong><\/a>
\nEvidence-based behavioral individual and group therapy for individuals with mental illness with clinicians with access to world-class behavioral research.<\/p>\n

Tailored Care Management<\/strong><\/a>
\nA program created for Medicaid recipients who have been identified as having needs related to a behavioral health diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\n

REACH Enhanced Primary Care<\/a>
\n<\/strong>Dedicated to meeting the primary health care needs of North Carolinians with severe mental illness, and helping connect individuals coming out of incarceration<\/a> with essential medical services.<\/p>\n

Outreach and Support Intervention Services (OASIS)<\/a><\/strong>
\nCoordinated specialty care by a supportive team for young people and their caregivers experiencing first episode psychosis<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Community Services<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Assertive Community Treatment<\/strong><\/a>
\nProviding transition support for individuals with severe mental illness as they move from a facility to living in the community.<\/p>\n

Community Resource Court<\/strong><\/a>
\nAssist individuals who have been diagnosed with mental disorders and become defendants in the court system.<\/p>\n

HomeLink<\/a><\/strong>
\nHelp individual who are chronically homeless or at risk for homelessness, thrive in the community.<\/p>\n

IPS Supported Employment<\/a><\/strong>
\nAssist individuals with serious mental illness who want to find and to maintain a job.<\/p>\n

Food Assistance Programs<\/strong><\/a>
\nAssisting individuals and families meet food insecurity needs with locally sourced meals and a community pantry.<\/p>\n

Tiny Homes Village<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n

An affordable housing option for people with mental illness and other health conditions living on a fixed income.<\/p>\n

Recovery Services<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Farm at Penny Lane<\/a><\/strong>
\nA 40 acre facility that is home to holistic and sustainable alternative recovery programs. Includes a large growing area, heritage-breed chickens, beehives, a learning kitchen and walking trail.<\/p>\n

Current Recovery Programs<\/strong><\/a>
\nWeekly group-based activities hosted by the UNC Farm at Penny Lane, focused around promoting overall health and well-being for adults living with serious mental health.<\/p>\n

Brushes with Life Arts Program<\/strong><\/a>
\nA creative arts program for individuals with mental illness utilizing creative art practices to promote healing and recovery.<\/p>\n

Horticultural Therapy Program<\/strong><\/a>
