{"id":2959,"date":"2015-09-17T20:35:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-18T00:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/cecmh\/oasis-expands-to-wake-county\/"},"modified":"2018-10-26T12:28:32","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T16:28:32","slug":"oasis-expands-to-wake-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/cecmh\/oasis-expands-to-wake-county\/","title":{"rendered":"OASIS Expands to Wake County"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Adolescents ages 16-18 and young adults in Wake County who are experiencing their first episodes of early psychosis (mental illness) or are at risk for developing a psychotic illness can now access UNC\u2019s well-known Outreach and Support Intervention Services (OASIS) closer to their homes. Research indicates that adolescents and young adults who receive comprehensive treatment during their first episode of psychosis have better treatment outcomes and are less likely to become disabled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">UNC OASIS, located at Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro, is collaborating with the N.C. Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse, and Alliance Behavioral Health to expand treatment services to Wake County. The collaboration is funded by a two-year Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) contract. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The new clinic, Wake OASIS, is currently housed at 3010 Falstaff Road with the Center\u2019s ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Team, the Wake STEP Clinic, and the North Carolina Psychiatric Research Center (NCPRC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For appointments for the Wake OASIS office, contact Sylvia Saade, PhD, at the Carr Mill Clinic at 919.962.1401.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">OASIS was created in 2005 and is led by Diana Perkins, MD, MPH, who is the medical director.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adolescents ages 16-18 and young adults in Wake County who are experiencing their first episodes of early psychosis (mental illness) or are at risk for developing a psychotic illness can now access UNC\u2019s well-known Outreach and Support Intervention Services (OASIS) closer to their homes.
