Rizzo Conference Center at Meadowmont in Chapel Hill.<\/p>\n<p>John Gilmore, MD, Thad and Alice Eure professor, department of psychiatry, vice chair, Research and Scientific Affairs, director, UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health, and the STEP program, introduced the program.<\/p>\n<p>Diana Perkins, MD, MPH, professor, department of psychiatry, and medical director, Outreach and Support Intervention Services (OASIS), and other OASIS staff and faculty presented \u201dBeyond Dopamine: New Approaches to Recovery from Early Psychosis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perkins also presented the opening session \u201cSTRIDE Forward: Wellness and Recovery from Psychosis\u201d and a panel discussion by Karen Graham, MD, associate professor of psychiatry, Victoria Toles, RN, and Nina Fierro, LCSW, followed.<\/p>\n<p>Perkins also presented \u201cComplementary Treatments for Psychosis: The Evidence Base.\u201d Graham presented \u2018Vitamin D.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the final session, Perkins and David Penn, PhD, Linda Wagner-Martin Distinguished Professor of Psychology at UNC-CH, and associate director, clinical training at OASIS, presented \u201cStress, Reactivity, Resilience and Psychosis.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly 100 patients, families and mental health professionals learned about new recovery approaches for early psychosis at the 22nd Annual STEP Symposium on April 18, 2015 at the Paul J.
