{"id":3047,"date":"2014-10-31T15:15:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-31T19:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/cecmh\/center-news-briefs\/"},"modified":"2018-10-26T12:28:52","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T16:28:52","slug":"center-news-briefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/cecmh\/center-news-briefs\/","title":{"rendered":"News Briefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">Center presents at North Carolina NAMI conference<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Robin Reed, MD, MPH, assistant professor, and medical director of the Center\u2019s Health Home, Thava Mahadevan, MS, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">director of operations, Kelty Bailey, MS, assistant clinical professor, and John Gilmore, MD, director of the Center, and Thad and Alice Eure Professor and vice chair, UNC Department of Psychiatry, presented \u201cIntegrating Medical and Behavioral Health: UNC\u2019s Multi-Disciplinary Approach and Experience,\u201d at the NAMI 2014 Conference titled Connecting two worlds: The journey to wellness in Raleigh,<br \/>\nOctober 17.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">Publications<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Fred Jarskog, MD, professor, department of psychiatry and research director at the North Carolina Psychiatric Research Center, is author of a study \u201cClozapine-induced <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-right\" title=\"Fred Jarskog\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/cecmh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/880\/2018\/10\/fred-jarskog.jpeg\" alt=\"Fred Jarskog\" \/>agranulocytosis is associated with rare HLA-DQB1 and HLA-B alleles,\u201d which was published in <i>Nature Communications<\/i><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> in September. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kelly Smedley, RN, MSN, CNS, clinical director at the Center, is co-author of \u201cA pilot six-week randomized controlled trial of oxytocin on social cognition and social skills in <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-right\" title=\"Kelly Smedley\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/cecmh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/880\/2018\/10\/kelly-smedley.jpeg\" alt=\"Kelly Smedley\" \/>schizophrenia,\u201d published in <i>Schizophrenia Research. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">Leah Pribac named business officer<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #365f91;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Leah Pribac, BBA, joined the Center as the business officer in August. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She brings more than 20 years of business administration experience, including accounting, operations and human resources management in nonprofit organizations.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">At the Center, she oversees financial administration.
