The Center continues to grow, and we have a number of accomplishments to share in this newsletter. In May we received a three-year accreditation from CARF and earned high remarks from the accreditation committee. <\/span>Leah Pribac joined us in August as the Center\u2019s business officer and will oversee financial administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our new UNC PAWS (Peer-Assisted Wellness Support), in which individuals we serve learn to train shelter dogs and prepare them for adoption, graduated its first class. This shelter-to-pet program is well into the second training session.<\/span><\/p>\n

UNC PAWS has brought us a great deal of media coverage as has Diana Perkins’ new study that reports a blood test that identifies psychosis. <\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re finalizing details for our inaugural “No Limits\u201d fundraising gala and hope you will join us November 7 at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on campus. Writer and mental health advocate Lee Smith will be the featured speaker and North Carolina Public Radio\u2019s Frank Stasio will emcee the program. <\/span>Registration is still available at <\/span>https:\/\/giving.dev.unc.edu\/events\/2014\/nolimits<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n
