It has been exciting and busy at the Center. We continue to grow our services to serve more individuals with serious mental illness in the Triangle and across the State.<\/p>\n

Thava Mahadevan, MS, our operations director, just received a new $2.4M federal\u00a0 grant that will provide coordinated care for individuals experiencing homelessness and mental illness in Orange and Chatham counties.\u00a0 We were successful in getting this grant in large part because a generous gift that funded a case management program served as the basis for the proposed program. We are making a real difference together. Additionally, we now have the ability to serve more individuals in Wake County through the expansion of our mobile clinic, Wellness on Wheels (W.O.W), thanks to our friends at the Foundation of Hope who have provided funding for a one-year pilot program.<\/p>\n

In this issue, you can learn more about these new ventures as well as other news such as our Fifth Annual No Limits Gala. The Center\u2019s annual Brushes with Life opening reception in September and our Thanksgiving luncheon for patients and their families were popular. You can also read about the Center\u2019s role in the University\u2019s effort to assist victims of Hurricane Florence this fall.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to Debbie Lawson, a clinician in our Wake STEP office who was appointed to the Wake County Human Services Board.<\/p>\n

As the holidays approach, I want to thank you — our staff, faculty, patients, donors and Advisory Board\u2014for making this another successful year.<\/p>\n
