Tyehimba Hunt-Harrison, MD, MPH, FAPA

Dr. Hunt-Harrison has had diverse career experiences over the past two decades in North Carolina. She has provided direct patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, served on clinical research teams, worked as a peer advisor in the public mental health sector, and led as coordinator for medical students and psychiatry trainees on the child adolescent unit at a state psychiatric hospital. Her clinical work is primarily focused on psychiatric assessments and treatment of children and adolescents requiring inpatient stabilization. She is Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  For the UNC Department of Psychiatry, she serves as Vice Chair for Mental Health Equity. In that capacity, she leads and coordinates efforts that strive towards the attainment of mental health equity for all people. Priorities include improving mental health equity education of clinicians, developing a workforce with varied lived experiences, and increasing engagement within North Carolina communities. 

Anthony Kulukulualani, MD

Dr. Anthony Kulukulualani is a Clinical Assistant Professor and serves as an Inpatient Attending at the Youth Behavioral Hospital in Butner, NC. Additionally, he serves as Co-Director of Education in the Mental Health Equity Program. He will be working with the Child and Adolescent Anxiety and Mood Disorders Program (CHAAMP) as a mental health equity consultant. His clinical and research interests include first episode psychosis, neurodevelopmental disorders, early childhood development, psychotherapy, and mental health equity. His professional interests include advocacy, teaching, curriculum development, mentoring, and leadership within organized medicine. 

Lisa Luo, MS

Lisa Luo, MS, is the Program Manager of the Program for the UNC Department of Psychiatry’s Mental Health Equity Program (MHEP) and Faculty Development Hubs Program.  

To support MHEP’s vision of equitable access to high quality mental healthcare, Lisa manages and supports the design and implementation of MHEP’s initiatives with a focus on the needs of underserved communities and groups.  

Lisa is passionate about using the power of art, movement, and mindfulness to cultivate wellbeing, healing, and resilience for youth and adults.  

 

 

Mental Health Equity Program Advisory Council  

The MHEP Advisory Council consists of Psychiatry faculty, staff, and trainees who provide feedback and recommendations to guide MHEP programming and planning. Council members also share experiences and needs related to equity and inclusion for Psychiatry patients, staff, faculty, and trainees.
