Summary Statement:

While she works with adolescents and young adults facing many forms of mental health challenges, Dr. Meyer has extensive experience working with somatization disorders, severe social anxiety disorders, gender dysphoria, psychosis, trauma, burn injury, and endocrine disorders. She has longstanding diagnostic experience with individuals with complex neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. Dr. Meyer is the founder of the UNC Gender Equity and Wellness Initiative (GEWI). She is the Assistant Mental Health Director with the Child Maltreatment Evaluation Program (CMEP) in the Department of Pediatrics and a teaching psychologist at the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Program (CAOP) in the Department of Psychiatry. In her clinical practice, Dr. Meyer works with models of dynamic, dialectical, and cognitive methods of therapy. An overarching focus of her approach to treatment lies with the transformative power in achieving the experience of narrative identity.
