Summary Statement:

Elliot M. Silverstein, works part time as a clinical professor of Psychiatry at Child Psychiatry Outpatient Program on the Raleigh Campus of the UNC School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry.  Currently, Elliot is also an adjunct professor at the UNC School of Law and has taught in Interviewing and Counseling and Negotiation since 2010. Previously, he had taught a course Interviewing, Counseling and Negotiation with Walker Blakey from 1986 until 2010.

He graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and received his law degree from Harvard University, and  a Ph.D. In Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1987, he received a Diplomate in Forensic Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology.  He is currently Co-Chair of the NCPA Ethics Committee and serves on NCPA’s Board of Directors.  He just finished a term as President of the North Carolina Psychological Association.

He routinely assists psychologists who are dealing with difficult clinical, legal and ethical dilemmas, and has designed and given numerous workshops and presentation on ethics and risk management.  He also maintains an active part-time psychotherapy practice and has extensive experience working with professionals and executives.
