Summary Statement:

Lindsey Atkins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the UNC Child and Adolescent Outpatient Program (CAOP) training clinic (Raleigh campus) in 2015. In her role as Clinical Instructor, she works alongside a multidisciplinary team in the training of social work and psychology student interns and psychiatry fellows in assessment and long-term treatment of children and families. Mrs. Atkins is also a part of the UNC Faculty Practice and provides individual therapy to children, adolescents, and their caregivers, using play and talk-based interventions that draw from psychodynamic, attachment, and trauma-informed theories. Ms. Atkins has experience in various outpatient settings, working alongside children in the deep and complex work of self-exploration and understanding, developing comfort and tolerance of one’s internal experience, managing development and the growing up process, developing secure and open relationships with others, and processing the impact of past and current experiences on their growing sense of themselves, others, and the world. Mrs. Atkins works closely and collaboratively with parents and caregivers to strengthen parenting skills, while also exploring the impact their own histories may have on their parenting and in their relationships with their child.
