Dr. Farber is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UNC School of Medicine in the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She is primarily based on the Child & Adolescent Inpatient Units where she provides therapy and assessment for children and adolescents hospitalized with acute psychiatric difficulties. In addition to direct patient care, Dr. Farber is actively involved in program development in line with trauma-informed care as well as training psychiatry and psychology students of all levels. Prior to joining UNC Psychiatry, Dr. Farber trained at Central Regional Hospital on the Child & Adolescent Units. While now primarily clinically focused, Dr. Farber has a background in developmental neuroscience research with an emphasis on understanding the role of parenting on child brain development. She prioritizes a trauma-informed, multiculturally sensitive, family-systems approach to clinical care. Her particular interests include mental health equity and developmental trajectories of risk & resilience.
