Dr. Sam McLean is a UNC Jeffrey Houpt Distinguished Investigator and expert in trauma, PTSD, and related adverse posttraumatic neuropsychiatric sequelae, and Director of the UNC Institute for Trauma Recovery.   Sam is a practicing ER doctor and has been in the Department of Anesthesia for the past 12 years, and is very excited to join Psychiatry to align with the clinical and research focus of our department. Sam has received more than $50M in research funding, primarily from NIH, and is excited to expand the scope of work in the department focused on stress, trauma and PTSD, and the development and testing of innovative mental health interventions.
