How long have you been with the Department?

I have been fortunate enough to be with the UNC Department of Psychiatry family for 10 years and have enjoyed every single one of them!

Best part of UNC Psychiatry?

I love meeting the new applicants every single year, getting to know them and learning from them! The absolute best part for me though is shepherding each new class over their four years of residency. I treat each one of “my babies” like my very own children, taking care of them and making their time here at UNC Psychiatry the best that I can. There are very strong connections in this program and I genuinely appreciate being part of this huge family.

Favorite vacation?

By far it was our trip to Fiji, spending time with beautiful and generous Fijians.  Aside from the fact that Fiji is absolutely gorgeous, the people were genuinely calm, soft-spoken and compassionate. My absolute favorite moment was the visit to the market and the school, where we met the children, who laughed, played, and sang a beautiful song to us. It was a joyful place to visit and witness their enthusiasm, happiness, and contentment. I hope to visit again someday!
