The program is directed by Dr. Riah Patterson. The mission is to provide state-of-the-art clinical care, research, and support groups to address the needs of women during this vulnerable time.<\/p>\n<h2><b><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"\/psych\/wmd\/patient_care\/perinatal-inpatient\"><span class=\"external-link\"><span class=\"internal-link\">Perinatal Psychiatry Inpatient Unit<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The newly renovated free-standing Perinatal Psychiatry Inpatient Unit will provide specialized treatment and address the needs of women suffering with these serious mood conditions during pregnancy or postpartum.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"\/psych\/wmd\/patient_care\/mrmd-program\"><span class=\"external-link\">Menstrually Related Mood Disorders Program<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Menstrually Related Mood Disorders Program is directed by Dr. David R. Rubinow, Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Chair Emeritus. Patients are offered assessment, treatment, including psychotherapy and hormone replacement therapy for women with mood disorders and hormonal disturbances surrounding menopause or their monthly cycle.<\/p>\n<h2><b><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/wmd\/patient_care\/perinatal-behavioral-health-psychotherapy-program\/\">Perinatal Behavioral Health &amp; Psychotherapy Program<\/a><\/b><\/h2>\n<p>We offer therapy to women who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or unfamiliar and uncomfortable psychological changes associated with pregnancy, birth, loss, fetal abnormalities, infertility, menopause or other medical or psychological conditions, as well those who need support during a major life transition.<\/p>\n<p><em>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/psych\/wmd\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/799\/2019\/04\/wmd-brochure-4-18-19.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>\u00a0for a brochure with more information on the services offered.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program The Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program specializes in mood and anxiety disorders that occur during pregnancy and postpartum.
