Her program of research broadly investigates the biological and psychosocial determinants of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), and the influence of perinatal mental health on child development. Her most recent work explores the impact of ovarian hormones on irritability and threat and reward processing in perinatal depression. Her current research employs human neuroimaging to examine the impact of menopause on brain health and dementia-related biomarkers. Dr. Walsh&#8217;s interests lie in identifying risk factors that accelerate menopause-related neurodegeneration and in developing and testing treatments to optimize brain health during and after the menopause transition. His interests include the development of tools to predict symptoms and treatment response in reproductive mood disorders, as well as the use of novel interventional treatments in women with refractory mental illness.
