He also works on UNC\u2019s electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) service. His academic and clinical interests include the treatment of insomnia in older adults, and managing behavioral and psychological symptoms of Parkinson\u2019s Disease, Huntington\u2019s Disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders. He is excited to be assisting Dr. Amy Abramowitz in establishing UNC\u2019s new geriatric psychiatry fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I realize that as a kid, I always found myself gravitating towards the older adults at family gatherings. I would ask them questions about their lives, ranging from how they had experienced wartime to matters as trivial as whether Kit-Kats were around when they were growing up \u2013 and manifold other curiosities. Later, in adolescence, I was confused but fascinated by witnessing some of my older relatives decline in their cognitive function and others seem to thrive and evolve more than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Yet I didn\u2019t consider specializing in a geriatric field until I came to UNC for psychiatry residency and had the opportunity to work with the department\u2019s extraordinary faculty in treating older adults in our dedicated geropsych clinic and inpatient unit. She works in inpatient , outpatient , and long term care settings. Her focus will be the treatment of mood disorders for adult patients with a focus on older aged adults. She is eager to bolster the geriatric psychiatry specialty at UNC as we welcome our first geriatric psychiatry fellow this next academic year! Her professional interests include interventional psychiatry (ECT, TMS, and ketamine), HIV psychiatry with a focus on the impact of older age populations, and clinical education including pipeline programs that encourage young minds to be interested in the importance of mental health. Clinical responsibilities include call at UNC, attending on the UNC Psychotic Disorders Unit and seeing outpatients in the VGFW Mental Health System. Dr. McClure has scientific expertise that includes the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of neuroimaging data in schizophrenia. His scientific interests include the use of neuroimaging measures for studying the genetics of schizophrenia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\" rule-thin osc-rule\" \/>\n<div class=\"row Psychiatry.\u00a0 Clinically, he focuses on providing psychiatric care for patients with medical and\/or surgical illness in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.\u00a0 He serves as an attending physician for the consultation-liaison psychiatry service at both UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC-Hillsborough, serving as the service director for the latter.\u00a0 He serves as Training Director for the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at UNC.\u00a0 He also works directly to support and promote the mental health needs of other physicians in addition to the promotion of wellness initiatives as Associate Director for UNC\u2019s Taking Care of Our Own Program.\u00a0 He is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"
