An estimated 30% of patients with depression fail to respond to antidepressant medications, often in combination with psychotherapy. This has led to the development and refinement of interventions for treatment-resistant depression.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The UNC Interventional Psychiatry Clinic is proud to offer intranasal esketamine, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Each of these options has been shown to be effective for treatment-resistant depression and ECT has proven benefit with other conditions, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and catatonia. Please note that efficacy is based off study data and the average degree of improvement in participants. Individual response or remission is not guaranteed.<\/p>\n

During a consultation visit, one of our providers will review individuals\u2019 diagnoses and history and help determine which options might be appropriate.<\/p>\n<\/som-cell>\n
