On June 18\u201319, 2025, ACCESS Mental Health welcomed ten undergraduate students from local universities to the UNC School of Medicine\u2019s Roper Hall for the inaugural 2025 Psychiatry Careers Pathway Program (PCPP), a two-day immersive experience for undergraduate students to explore psychiatry as a potential career.\"\"<\/p>\n

Throughout the program, students engaged directly with UNC Psychiatry faculty, residents, medical school students, and MED Program educators. Activities included mock interviews, panel discussions, and candid conversations about the medical school admissions process and different career paths in Psychiatry. The experience provided rich exposure to the various opportunities within Psychiatry, and sessions emphasized the many ways our faculty and residents work to expand access to mental health care for our patients and local communities.<\/p>\n

This inaugural PCPP edition was a resounding success, thanks to the dedication of the participating Psychiatry faculty, residents, and medical students. We deeply appreciate their time and commitment to inspiring the next generation of psychiatrists!<\/p>\n

ACCESS Mental Health (Advancing Care through Community Engagement, Education, and Sustainable Solutions for Mental Health) is a program within UNC Psychiatry that strives to improve access to quality mental healthcare for all people. The PCPP is a collaborative effort between UNC Department of Psychiatry\u2019s ACCESS Mental Health, UNC Health Community Health & Engagement, and the UNC Medical Education Development (MED) Program.<\/p>\n
