She holds a B.S. in Psychology from North Carolina Central University. Currently she is working on the RISE study researching biopsychosocial factors and the implementation of interventions that utilize parent and child interactions to improve healthy family outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Candace has experience in research related to substance abuse prevention in BIPOC communities. Her efforts in this were aimed at developing culturally responsive prevention strategies and interventions, which are critical for effectively addressing substance abuse in these communities. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Candace is an active member of the North Carolina Child Welfare Family Advisory Council. She is fully invested in incorporating family voices into systemic changes in child welfare, with a particular focus on abuse and maltreatment prevention.<\/p>\n<p>In her personal time, Candace enjoys spending quality moments with her family and friends and finds relaxation through beach vacations.
