Dr. Renner is a Professor of Radiology and Allied Health Sciences, as well as the MSK Division Chief.  His primary research has focused on osteoarthritis in Southern populations and bone mineral density changes in various settings, among other topics.  He supervises the resident rotation in musculoskeletal and emergency radiology, interacting with the residents both through lectures and hands-on supervision.  He directs the musculoskeletal radiology fellowship program and is the course director for RADY 412, the fourth year medical student elective in musculoskeletal radiology.

A member of numerous radiologic, skeletal and osteoarthritis societies, Dr. Renner previously served on the editorial boards of Radiologic Science and Education and Advance for Administrators in Radiology, and was a reviewer for Arthritis and Rheumatism and Arthritis Care and Research.  In a position appointed by the American College of Radiology, he currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and previously as a member of the Board of Directors for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.  Dr. Renner has published extensively in numerous refereed journals.
