Breast Imaging

Rachel Hitt, MD, MPH Interim Division Chief
Dr. Rachel Hitt joined UNC Radiology’s Division of Breast Imaging in July 2021. Prior to UNC, Dr. Hitt served as a radiologist in Breast Imaging at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates / Atrius Health. At Harvard Medical School Department of Radiology and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Dr. Hitt also served as a Breast Imaging Staff Radiologist and as Breast Imaging Fellowship Director. Dr. Hitt earned her MD from Harvard Medical School and completed both her Diagnostic Radiology residency and Breast Imaging focused fellowship year at MGH. She additionally has a Masters in Public Health (MPH) in Health Education and Health Behavior from the University of Michigan.

Cherie Kuzmiak, DO

Professor of Radiology Dr. Cherie Kuzmiak, Division Chief of Breast Imaging, earned her medical degree at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Science in Des Moines, Iowa. The recipient of numerous honors, her research interests include the interpretation and diagnostic analysis of digital mammograms, a comparison of full-field mammography and film-screen mammography and their diagnostic accuracy. She is also an avid athlete and competes regularly in statewide Triathalons.

Sheri Jordan, MD, RCC

Professor of Radiology Dr. Sheri Jordan completed her medical degree, internal medicine internship, and breast imaging fellowship at the University of North Carolina, and her radiology residency at Duke University, where she served as chief resident. She serves the medical school and radiology discipline in numerous institutional, state, and national roles in stewardship and radiology education. She feels particularly honored to care for her fellow North Carolinians.

Lana Rivers, MD
Dr. Lana Rivers earned her MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. She then completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Christiana Care in Newark, DE. She completed her residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Subspecialty training includes fellowships in Musculoskeletal Imaging and Breast Imaging at the University of North at Chapel Hill. Dr. Rivers is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and joined UNC Department of Radiology as an Assistant Professor of Radiology in 2019.
