The Department would like to recognize Dr. Dinggang Shen for being named to the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research (ARBIR)’s Council of Distinguished Investigators in June 2019. The ARBIR is an advocacy organization that aims to advance federal investment in medical imaging research on behalf of the imaging research community.

Each year, the ARBIR bestows this honor upon the top 10% of medical imaging and academic radiology researchers to recognize their accomplishments. This year, Dr. Shen was among 37 researchers selected for the 2019 Distinguished Investigator Award.  Dr. Shen will be inducted into the Council at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)’s 105th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting in December 2019.

Academy Executive Director Renee Cruea noted: “Collectively, these Distinguished Investigators advance medical imaging research and the field in immeasurable ways.”  Council of Distinguished Investigators Co-Chair Dr. Elizabeth A. Krupinski added: “The Distinguished Investigators represent the future of research in radiology, advancing the field and developing ways to significantly improve patient care through imaging.”
