In November 2018, Vascular-Interventional Radiology faculty, fellows and advance practice providers prepared and served dinner to 260 community members supported by Urban Ministries of Durham. Since its early 1980s founding, the organization has collaborated with community leadership to end homelessness and fight poverty by offering food, shelter and a future to Durham neighbors in need. In recent years, VIR division members have returned multiple times to serve large groups supported by Urban Ministries.

Alicia Blount, MSN, FNP-C, organized the division’s 2018 year-end meal service at Urban Ministries. She noted: “I was thankful to be given the opportunity to organize our volunteer effort, and it was a true pleasure to serve dinner to the community of people that we also have the pleasure of caring for in our clinical practice.”

Participating VIR members: Drs. Ari Isaacson, Kevin Anton, Jessie Stewart, Peter Bream, Hyeon Yu, Patrick Davidson, Sameer Mittal / APPs: Jessica Martissa, MMSc, PA-C, Alicia Blount, MSN, FNP-C
