Do you have an interest in global health?  Do you enjoy teaching?  Do you like traveling to new places? Or are you interested in helping underserved NC communities?

In late July 2021, the message of a flier advertising a UNC Radiology Global Health Meet ‘n Greet was clear – UNC Global Radiology has lots to share with radiology-bound residents and fellows who want to learn more about UNC Radiology’s well-advanced global health program. At the home of Malawi Global Health Initiative Faculty Lead Katrina McGinty, MD, veteran participants and faculty leadership shared with interested trainees the opportunities UNC Global Radiology offers in Diagnostic Radiology educational and hands-on imaging experience in Malawi and North Carolina, as well as Interventional Radiology training via its initiative in Kenya.

UNC Global Radiology Director Melissa Culp, MEd, RT(R)(MR), noted: “The UNC Global Radiology Meet-and-Greet was a great way to kick-off the second year of the UNC Department of Radiology’s Global Health Leadership Pathway. We had a wonderful evening discussing our health equity collaborations and initiatives in Kenya, Malawi, North Carolina with interested residents and faculty.

I am grateful to my colleague, Katrina McGinty, and her family for hosting at their home, and we appreciate the continued support of departmental leadership for these resident learning and faculty enrichment opportunities. We look forward to an outstanding year!”

Dr. McGinty added: “It was wonderful to host our Global Health Meet and Greet in with Melissa Culp this year and be able interact in person!  I’m excited to see so many interested residents and look forward to the continued growth of UNC Global Radiology.”
