The Department would like to recognize Dr. Joseph KT Lee as honoree of the first-ever Roentgen Fund Honorary Lecture in May at the 2017 Annual American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) Meeting in New Orleans, LA. Lee has advanced CT and MRI technologies over the past five decades and has authored seven major textbooks on the use of combined CT and MRI imaging. He is recognized as one of the first radiologists in the world to assess the clinical utility of using CT and MRI evaluation for abdominal and pelvic organs. Lee is also the first one to demonstrate the feasibility and clinical utility of proton spectroscopic imaging for evaluation of the liver.

Of note, Immediate Past ARRS President and James H. Scatliff Distinguished Professor of Radiology Dr. Mauricio Castillo collaborated with Dr. Melissa Rosado de Christensen, also a past ARRS president and a University of Missouri/Kansas City radiologist, to fund the first-ever Roentgen Fund Honorary Lecture that honored Dr. Lee. The lecture – “Imaging of inflammatory bowel disease” – was delivered by Dr. Joel G. Fletcher, a renowned Mayo Clinic abdominal radiologist.

Castillo noted: “Dr. Lee has been an extraordinary mentor to both Melissa and myself. He has guided us throughout our careers always keeping our best interests in sight. Thus, this

is a small way to show him our gratitude.”
