The Department would like to recognize the following new faculty and staff members who joined UNC Radiology in late summer 2021:

NEW FACULTY

Kassie McCullagh, MD: Assistant Professor of Radiology – Neuroradiology

Dr. McCullagh joined the Neuroradiology division in August 2021 as an Assistant Professor of Radiology. She is one of an eight-faculty-member clinical division team working under the direction of Division Chief Dr. Carlos Zamora.

Prior to joining UNC Radiology, Dr. McCullagh completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency at Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Affiliated Hospitals (2015-2019). During residency, Dr. McCullagh actively participated in leadership and scholarly opportunities in her field, including: 1) Health Care Economics Milestones Program participant – American College of Radiology (ACR) Radiology Leadership Institute (2016-2017); 2) Invited Guest Lecturer – MCW Geriatric Department; and 3) Radiology Instructor, MCW Ms. Medical Masterminds Outreach Program.  Post residency, Dr. McCullagh completed a two-year Neuroradiology fellowship (2019-2021) at Stanford University, during which she served as Chief Fellow.

Dr. McCullagh noted: “I am excited to continue the great clinical and academic work of the Neuroradiology division. I am collaborating with other faculty on a book chapter on imaging of headaches, and another chapter on larynx anatomy.  Also, I am currently working on some interesting case reports with a team of faculty, fellows, and residents.”

Tony Jeanmenne, MD: Assistant Professor of Radiology – Musculoskeletal Imaging

Dr. Jeanmenne joined the Musculoskeletal Imaging division in September 2021 as an Associate Professor of Radiology. He is the newest of a six-member clinical faculty team working under the direction of Division Chief Dr. Daniel Nissman.

Dr. Jeanmenne completed his Musculoskeletal Imaging fellowship at the University of California – San Diego, California (2014-15), where he served as Chief Fellow. Prior to that, he completed medical school and residency in diagnostic radiology at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois (2010-14), where he was awarded the RSNA Roentgen Research Award for the creation of an iPad application used for radiology education. He has presented his work at multiple national radiology meetings.

For six years prior to joining UNC Radiology, Dr. Jeanmenne worked at Center for Diagnostic Imaging (Sartell, MN).  While at CDI, Dr. Jeanmenne has completed several projects with the CDI Quality Institute. Most recently he authored “The Consult: Appropriate Use of Imaging in Patients with Knee Pain,” as part of a qualified Provider Led Entity for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) to assist referring medical providers in selecting the best cross sectional imaging study for their patient.  Dr. Jeanmenne’s clinical and teaching interests include MRI interpretation and image guided procedures.  He is excited to continue providing excellent patient care and begin this new role of teaching fellows, residents, and medical students at UNC Radiology in the MSK Imaging division.

NEW STAFF

Yukie Kajita, PhD: Data Manager/Analyst – UNC Radiology Epidemiology Research Division

Yukie joined the Department’s Epidemiology Research division in April as the newest member of its Carolina Mammography Registry (CMR) team. She works under the direction of CMR Co-Investigator, Sarah Nyante, PhD, and Project Manager Ley Killeya-Jones, PhD. Yukie manages the acquisition, storage, and documentation of study datasets, and conducts data cleaning and statistical analyses.

Yukie has a PhD. in Biology, and more than 15 years of experience with data collection, analysis, and visualization. Prior to joining UNC Radiology, Yukie was a research assistant professor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and conducted multiple research projects ranging from quantitative ecology to population genetics. Recently, she completed a Data Analytic program through the UNC Charlotte to expand her data management and analytic skills to include programming (e.g., Python, SQL, and JavaScript) and visualization (e.g., Tableau, Matplotlib, D3.js).

Yukie stated: “The diverse resources and professional environment at the UNC Chapel Hill provide an ideal working environment for me to continue my career as a Data Analyst. I see this position as a great opportunity for me to embrace my passion for data analytics to provide data resources and solutions to the epidemiologic study group at the UNC Chapel Hill.”

Karla Allen – Finance Manager

The Department is pleased to recognize our long-time Contracts & Grants Post-Award Accountant Karla Allen as UNC Radiology’s Finance Manager.  Karla previously worked in a part-time capacity for UNC Radiology in research awards oversight and accounting through the UNC School of Medicine Finance and Research Support Team.  In a new position dedicated solely to UNC Radiology, Karla’s experience and knowledge of our research and accounting culture will be invaluable to the Department’s operations.

Karla noted: “Over the past several years, I have truly enjoyed working with the faculty and staff in the Department of Radiology. Together, we have overcome many challenges and also celebrated many accomplishments. I am looking forward to the opportunity of being able to expand my role in the department and to see what the future holds!”
