The Cardiothoracic Imaging Division in the UNC Department of Radiology is comprised of four attending radiologists and one fellow. The division is responsible for interpretation of portable and conventional chest radiographs, thoracic computed tomography examinations, and cardiac CT and MRI studies, as well as the performance of chest fluoroscopy and CT-guided transthoracic needle biopsy and pulmonary nodule localization procedures. Cardiothoracic imaging is an active service with close working relationships with pulmonology, oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, and cardiac and thoracic surgical services. Faculty members in the Cardiothoracic Imaging Division are integral members of the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Program, which provides diagnostic services and therapeutic options for patients with thoracic malignancies using a multidisciplinary team approach.
