Pediatric Imaging Retrospective Studies
Utilization of Radiologic Studies in the Emergency Department (PI: Clayton Commander)
Purpose: To examine the utilization of radiologic studies by patients in the Emergency Department.
Participants: A retrospective cohort of patients seen in the Emergency Department (ED) and that had CT imaging between January 1, 2006 and June 12, 2017.
Procedures (methods): This retrospective study will examine trends in utilization of radiologic studies by patients in the Emergency Department (ED). Subgroup analysis, such as utilization of CT by patients in the pediatric emergency department, will also be performed. Data from 2006-2017 will be included. The total number and type of radiologic test ordered for a target population will be compared with the total number of patient visits to the ED during the same time frame. Additional analyses including subgroup analysis and trends according to triage score will be performed.
